Ice Follies 2002

Saturday September 21

(submitted by 'Rat Mark Wiltz)

The morning was windy, but the wind that came up during the night eased to calms as two or three groups of 'Rats hiked up onto the receding Eliot glacier. The glacier was opened up nicely, but good climbing crevasses were not to be found until about halfway to the Headwall. At least it seemed like that.

The trail up the east ridge had badly eroded and in places was falling away into the valley previously occupied my Eliot Glacier ice.

Rats on the ice were Kevin Slagle, Tom Scully, Jay Sherrerd, Kirk Worrell, Dennis Klein, Yvette, Todd Wells, Mark Wiltz, Chris van Tilburg, Trevor Wells, Helmut and son Tony, and Brian, friend of Trevor's

The east ridge up to Elliot had been eroded in places to about 15 feet or so.
